The Ornament Of Ravery

Rema reveals his Rave & Roses artefact coined “The Ornament Of Ravery”, a one-of-a-kind custom-made chain to mark a momentous time in the global superstar's journey.

Never one to follow the crowd, Rema has chosen to celebrate his global, record-breaking success with a significant artefact, “The Ornament Of Ravery”, that perfectly captures the memory of the whirlwind journey he’s been on since 2019. Rather than a chain that holds little significance other than status, Rema has transformed his debut album art into a one-of-a-kind artefact that is glistening in symbolism and meaning. Rema worked closely with the prestigious A Jewellers, who worked on the artefact for over 840 painstaking hours to bring it to life. “The Ornament Of Ravery” incorporated a combination of Rose Gold, Round Diamonds, Green Sapphire, Brown Diamonds and much more and weighs over 1kg. Hailing from Benin City, a place infamous for its artefacts, Rema intends for his Rave & Roses chain to go down in the history books to commemorate the legacy he is building. In the current climate, where thousands of songs and albums get released daily, Rema intentionally chose to
savour his debut album over this period to ensure the music is received in its entirety.

“The Ornament Of Ravery is a life form of memories to me, memories of the creation of this classic project, the sleepless nights, and the sweat & blood my team and I put in. It’s a mobile statue that depicts the aura of my present phase. It also depicts its impact on Afrobeat, the territories it has unlocked and its achievements overall.”

Although much speculation exists about what the house in the artwork represents, it is simply Rema. Through a short video, Rema explains the meaning behind each part of the artwork - and now also “The Ornament Of Ravery” - holding back on some elements to leave to the imagination. On the chain, the Tsavorite stone on the door symbolises energy, healing and spirituality, and the brown chocolate diamonds on the roof symbolise stability. The blue sapphires in the sky reflect luck, and, in many Eastern cultures, sapphire is also believed to ward off evil. The chain element was designed using the flames of the burning building, and as a continuation of the pendant, the vine wrapping itself around represents growth and overcoming obstacles as it winds around the flowers and flames.

The past few years for Rema have been meteoric, and not a day goes by where he doesn't break a new record. The highest charting African artist in Billboard’s history, the longest charting African artist in The UK’s Official Charts, the highest streaming on Spotify, the most watched video on your Youtube... the list goes on. Recognised by Bill Gates and Barack Obama, Rema has captured hearts across the globe from all ages and continues to rip up and re-write the rule book. Rema is the blueprint for his generation of artists.
