GHANA’S FINEST MELLISSA KICKS OFF APRIL WITH SENSATIONAL HIT ‘HAPPY’

Authored by

Ghanaian superstar - Mellissa is back with a new light-hearted disco beat ‘Happy’. The singer who has previously released electrifying chart topping singles including Me & U, Henny Talk and In A Loop introduces another poignant and fiery single released this April.

Happy,  produced by E-Whizz , is a vivid representation of the singer’s self coined Afro-Sexy genre. It has a distinct sound that creatively infuses different genres including Alternative, R&B and Pop while maintaining a fun, exhilarating, goofy soft beat to its rhythm.

Mellissa shows no signs of slowing down with Happy as she is prepared to blow us with her upcoming EP later this year. Growing up as a child, in her mother’s local restaurant in her home country of Ghana, the singer was vastly exposed to different musical influences from traditional ghanaian singers like KK Fosu to soulful western influences such as Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey. Truly realising she was born to do music, the talented singer took a daring plunge to focus on her music career after graduating with a degree in film from the United States. With her relentless determination, evocative vocals and strong support system which includes her sister and frequent collaborator Moliy, Mellissa has been able to carve a name for herself in the thriving music space leading her to gain recognition as one of Apple Music Africa Rising Artists for 2023.

As a rising success, Mellissa has been able to snag notable nominations including the remarkable The Headies Awards nomination for best alternative song. Her success has also led various media organisations like Apple and BBC R1 championing her vocal prowess, hypnotic sound and chart topping singles. The stunning artist has also been featured in hit songs by popular artists including Amaarae, Ajebutter, Moliy and Boj, whilst also getting an approval nod from Afrobeats legend Wizkid.

As the world is geared up to the release of Happy, we are highly anticipating the arrival of her debut EP and what’s next for the singer. With the rising star’s booked and busy status, it’s safe to say 2024 is turning out to be a good year for Mellissa.
