Nike and Deeds Magazine Present Limited Edition Zine, ‘The Girls Who Watch’

Authored by

For decades, Nigeria’s women’s national football team, the Super Falcons, have shown us what belief looks like when it is carried collectively. Not only are they a true vision of self-belief, ambition and leadership, they have become a mirror for the next generation of young women across Nigeria and the continent.

Shot in Lagos, Deeds Studio in collaboration with Nike presents The Girls Who Watch, a digital editorial zine celebrating the girls who have grown up watching Nigerian women play with fearlessness, style, resilience, and joy, and who, in watching, have started to imagine new possibilities for themselves.

As the Falcons soar in search of an unprecedented 11th WAFCON title, The Girls Who Watch honours not only the women on the pitch, but the girls watching from the sidelines, the living rooms, the school corridors, and the streets of Lagos because history is not only made by the women who lift the trophy. It is also made by the girls who watch them and dare to dream bigger. The Girls Who Watch is now available HERE.

Produced entirely by Deeds Studio, The Girls Who Watch features conversations with captain Rasheedat Ajibade, alongside Jennifer "Joe" Echegini, Asisat Oshoala, and Michelle Alozie. Fittingly, the project was curated by two young girls who dream of becoming Super Falcons themselves.
